Carlos Moreno
Junior
The rider from Vicálvaro comes to the youth structure of the Contador Foundation after his previous steps by two reference institutions in the Community of Madrid such as the Unión Ciclista Coslada, where he began his competitive career, and the Unión Ciclista Fuenlabrada, where he stayed the last three years. Carlos came to the world of cycling through his father and at the same time as his sister, also a competitor, Irene. “I train and share this passion with them,” Carlos confesses. “My father took us with him from a very young age, we would go for rides on the mountain bike and he saw that we liked it a lot and the day came when he offered us the chance to join a cycling academy”, he adds. One of Carlos’ curiosities is his love of woodworking, which is why he has focused his studies on an intermediate degree in carpentry, which he combines with the dream of, why not, one day becoming a professional: “I’d like to be able to ride a Tour, a Vuelta or one of these important three-week races”. His usual training area is in the southeast of Madrid: “I have a bit of everything, there are flats and also climbs, but the truth is that it lacks a big mountain pass”. On his favourite cyclists, Moreno has no doubts: “Alberto Contador and Alejandro Valverde have always been my favourite riders, I really enjoyed watching them. Nowadays the ones I like the most are Wout Van Aert, Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic and also Sepp Kuss”.
