The Kometa-Xstra Challenge by Gobik debuts with the junior team’s competition
The first meeting of the Kometa-Xstra Challenge by Gobik, with a representation of the youth team of the Alberto Contador Foundation, was held on the afternoon of Monday, April 27th, with five laps of one of the circuits of Innsbruck offered by the Zwift platform.
Under the Social Ride formula, the riders of the Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team junior shared pedaling with more than three hundred practitioners to whom at some point, as a reference within the event, the Balearic Francesc Bennassar thanked them for their presence and support with various messages. Such are the possibilities of this virtual universe.
“It has been quite an experience, it has been very good. After this experience I think that we are going to encourage each other to do the same with the U23”, Bennassar said. “With this kind of initiatives we clear up, strengthen ourselves and carry out the day by day in the best possible way”, Alejandro Luna added. Miguel Ramos from Madrid discovered himself as an expert in these digital sports competitions.
The inaugural event of the Kometa-Xstra Challenge by Gobik was broadcasted live through the Youtube channel of the Alberto Contador Foundation and counted with the expertise of Juan Mari Guajardo in some voice over tasks where he found the support of the director Luis de Pedro.
“I had a great time”, said the Navarre native, a regular speaker at the main races on the Spanish calendar, with the Tour of Spain at the helm. “I have to thank the Foundation for inviting me to enjoy an experience like this. You can always miss being more accustomed to these ecosystems, but with the whole course done this Monday the next experience will be much more enjoyable”.
Guillermo Gutiérrez, director of the junior team, was one more among the spectators who enjoyed the experience through Youtube: “In these times of confinement, initiatives like this allow us to give visibility to our sponsors, to our team and of course to give incentives to the kids and keep on making group. We have missed all the colleagues who, for different reasons, have not been able to take part”.
The Kometa-Xstra Challenge by Gobik will continue this Friday with a new Social Ride, this time on the Richmond circuit and with a special focus on the riders of the U23 team of the Alberto Contador Foundation. This initiative would be impossible without the support of Amg HERO and ADZ.
