The junior team returns to the Copa de España in La Canonja

VIII Trofeu 15 d'abril
La Canonja - La Canonja (121km)

The junior team will travel to La Canonja, Tarragona, to compete in the Trofeu 15 d’abril. This will be the second round of the junior Copa de España after a month and a half break in the prestigious competition. Oscar Orts is the best classified rider of the team as a result of the eighth place he got in Don Benito, the first and so far only race.

The team will arrive with the maximum illusion after a great weekend in Corpa where the victory escaped by the minimum. Jose Miguel Moreira will be back in the races after a few weeks of necessary rest due to the falls suffered in the Victor Cabedo Trophy and the Volta ao concelho de Loulé, and five other riders, besides the aforementioned Orts, as the best classified, will be on the start line on Saturday.

The profile of the race, in which although the three climbs to be tackled vary, maintains the essence of a ‘comfortable’ start, an intermediate block with the most demanding area and a very favourable finish to the finish line, will slightly exceed 120 kilometres. The Coll de Mont-Ral (1st), the Coll de Capafonts (2nd) and the Coll de la Musara (3rd) will be the climbs that will be the most difficult for the big group. The three climbs, set in an area with hardly any rest for 40 kilometres, will be decisive for the development of the race. Once the intermediate zone has been passed, the peloton will have more than 30 kilometres to the finish line, so a regrouping could take place.

Isaac Cantón will have a very strong team for the Catalan race, a race that “is going to be a tough one and that due to the terrain is very good for us to have a great race”. The team will be prepared and with “a great team for this day and to fight for the victory”.

José Miguel Moreira will be back on the start line, with renewed strength and enthusiasm: “I’m happy and eager to race again. In Cabedo I was in very good shape and after the crash I suffered I couldn’t give 100% in Loulé, where I also crashed. That’s why I’m anxious to see how my body is and to help the team to achieve more happiness”.

Héctor Teruel will be another rider who will participate in the ‘Trofeu’ and who arrives with “very good sensations and a very positive form”. In addition, the team that will travel will be “very good” and that will be able to “fight for the victory both individually and collectively”.

Line-up: Matteo Compagnoni, Pablo Leno, Iván Loaisa, Iván Martín, José Miguel Moreira, Óscar Orts and Héctor Teruel.
