Riccardo Archetti, sixth rider to be promoted from Bustese Olonia to the Contador Foundation

The eighth young cyclist who will debut in 2024 in the U23 category with the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation directed by Rafa Diaz Justo will be the Italian Riccardo Archetti (November 7, 2005). The Lombard rider already knows the structure, since he was one of the four representatives of the U. C. Bustese Olonia ASD who were present at the Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort stage in February 2023. More recently, Archetti has also participated in the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team Pro Team training camp in Bormio (Italy).

Archetti is a promising climber, winner in the Collegno-Sestriere in 2022 and with many top ten positions during the 2023 campaign, emphasizing his second place in the Giro della Castellania or his third place in the Trofeo Madonna della Guardia and the Gran Premio Comune di Vaprio. A native of Gorla Minore, in the province of Varese, he will be the sixth U.C Bustese Olonia ASD rider to compete in the Foundation’s U23 team after Edoardo Alleva, Manuel Oioli, Gabriele Raccagni and the brothers Tommaso and Gabriele Bessega. A synergy that continues to bear fruit. In March 2021, the Contador Foundation began a partnership with the historic Varesine cycling academy, which counts EOLO, KOMETA and Chiaravalli Group among its supporters for the promotion of young riders.

“I’ve been cycling since I was six years old,” Archetti recalls. “My first experience with the sport came in my hometown, with Ju Sport in Gorla Minore, and from then on I never stopped cycling. I’m good at climbing and I like to escape a lot. For six seasons I have been part of the Bustese Olonia, where I have been able to mature, improve and above all have a lot of fun with some fabulous team-mates and directors. I am proud to follow the path from the Bustese to the Foundation; I hope to improve a lot, gain a lot of experience and, of course, if the possibility arises, to achieve some success”.

“We have been following Riccardo Archetti very closely over the last few months. Already in February, when he was in our training camp in Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, he seemed to us a very interesting rider, with that slim and small phenotype so characteristic of riders who climb very well. We remember him climbing very fast both Vall d’Ebo and Coll de Rates in some small tests we did. We think that his pure climber profile will bring a lot to the team in the future”, explains director Rafa Díaz Justo.
