Training camp in Bormio, enjoying Valtellina

The EOLO KOMETA faces during this month of July a training camp at altitude in Bormio. The Italian Alps, and in particular the Valtellina region, is the place chosen to prepare the final part of the season with great objectives. But also the opportunity to discover the wonders of a real paradise for cyclists and tourists alike.

From the 9th to the 18th of July, this training camp will take place, which goes further than just sporting side. It is a privilege to spend more than a week in a real paradise where cycling, history and spectacular scenery come together for a unique experience. It will not be the first time that the team will concentrate on Bormio and Valtellina because of the wonderful conditions and opportunities offered by this Italian region.

In addition to training on such iconic climbs as Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo, EOLO KOMETA has planned a multitude of activities to promote Valtellina and the team’s other sponsors. Starting with KOMETA, which has an important interest in this area of Italy, reinforcing its image and the existing link. Also the visit to the Bormio Thermal Baths, an enclave of the region with a huge attraction for tourism.

Coachers and sport directors have organised a series of work blocks for the 20 riders who will take part in the training camp, including local riders Davide Piganzoli, Francesco Gavazzi and Alessandro Fancellu. With an intense end of July, August and the Italian classics in September and October, it is essential to arrive in the best condition for these events.

It will also be a great opportunity to receive journalists from the region, who will have the opportunity to interview both riders and technical staff. Several meetings with KOMETA customers are scheduled as a great experience for them, and they can share time with the team, and there will even be excursions to discover the whole Valtellina area.

The young Piganzoli highlights the region and its wonders: “If we talk about Valtellina, we have to talk about its mountains. There are longer ones like Stelvio or Gavia, and shorter but equally demanding ones like Mortirolo”. Mythical places of Italian cycling, of the Giro d’Italia and of great feats. The nice thing is that wherever you climb you will enjoy spectacular places,” continues Piga, “and then you can return to the valley to continue your route. The roads are quiet, with few cars and you can really enjoy cycling and nature. The pride that comes out of Piganzoli’s words certainly encourages and motivates all those who will participate in this training camp.

EOLO KOMETA will bring almost 40 people to Bormio, to a retreat that will be equally important for both sporting and promotional purposes. Valtellina as a setting, cycling as a link and the certainty that it will be 10 really profitable days for everyone in Italy.

D. Matteo Bonfà, Sole Administrator of Società Multiservizi Alta Valle: “It is a pleasure to be able to host a team of the level of EOLO KOMETA in Bormio. All this is possible thanks, first of all, to the fact that we are in the land of epic mountains that have made Italian cycling history. Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo are, in fact, ideal altitude training grounds for any cyclist. Following in the footsteps of these champions is undoubtedly an added incentive for any two-wheeled enthusiast. Not to mention the opportunity to relax in our warm thermal waters, taste our quality gastronomic products and enjoy a very familiar environment, typical of the mountains”.
