Chiaravalli Group, one more year supporting Polti Kometa and youth talent

The Chiaravalli S.p.A. group, today a major player in the industrial transmission sector, was founded in the 1950s thanks to the technical and entrepreneurial skills of its founder, Silvio Chiaravalli. The Chiaravalli brand soon became synonymous with quality and technological innovation in the industrial mechanics sector. The awareness of operating in a constantly evolving market has led
the Group to characterise itself by constant dialogue with its customers, offering them decades of experience and passion for mechanics.

As part of this awareness of working in a constantly evolving market, for the third consecutive year, the Polti Kometa team, born from the commitment of two sport legends such as Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador, has the strong support of Chiaravalli Group S.p.A. The work carried out in teaching young people the values of sacrifice and dedication, essential in cycling, serves to strengthen ties with the historic UC Bustese Olonia, Italian formation with which the Fundación Contador collaborates from the 2021 season and from the 2023 season has the great support of Chiaravalli Group S.p.A, as well as the teams of the Fundación.

Furthermore, as part of this collaboration and exercise of mutual support between structures, during the last season, both Riccardo Archetti and Santiago Basso, riders of the Bustese Olonia, participated in the mid-season training camp in Bormio with the professional team. This opportunity that both cyclists received is nothing more than a reflection of the support and development environment in which the riders of the Italian squad grow as athletes and as people.

The Lombard company, leader in the production of components for industrial mechanics, is increasing its presence in cycling, where it will once again be one of the official sponsors of the Polti-Kometa team, also supporting the centenary formation based in Varese. A firm commitment to the training of young talents in a sport so rich in values such as team spirit, capacity for sacrifice, respect and honesty.

From Bustese Olonia to the under-23 team this season Riccardo Archetti, who together with Santiago Basso, still a second year junior cyclist, were at the team’s training camp before the start of the season in Pinto. The step taken now by Archetti was taken first by the twin brothers Tommaso and Gabriele Bessega.

“Last year was my last year with the Bustese Olonia team with which I raced for six seasons. The change to Polti Kometa was definitely a big leap for me”, explains Riccardo Archetti, one of the cyclists who knows well this collaboration between the Bustese Olonia and the Fundación Contador of which Chiaravalli is an active part. “Last year I had the opportunity to take part in the Bormio training camp with the professional team. There I found a beautiful environment composed of very welcoming and above all prepared people, where I understood that for me it was the best environment to improve and grow as a person,” he adds. “This year I have made the jump to the U-23 team where I am feeling very well both with the staff and with my teammates. The way of working is different from what I was used to in the past years because we don’t race every week, in the style of the pros, and that gives us much more time to work on ourselves and improve thanks to the customised training sessions”, the young Italian concludes.

In addition to Archetti’s case, Santiago Basso is another of the cyclists who has been able to enjoy the experiences provided by the Bustese Olonia and the Fundación Alberto Contador. The last week of March he participated with the junior team in the Volta ao concelho de Loulé in Portugal. Beyond the result, because a fall made him abandon when he was third in the general classification, he could enjoy a “fantastic experience”. Basso tells how the trip went with the team: “I had a lot of fun. From the beginning, a good bond was established with my team-mates and staff, which made the race days go as smoothly as possible. The organisation was perfect. I integrated very well with my teammates from the afternoon I arrived at the hotel and in the end, knowing how to speak Spanish quite well, I managed to integrate without too many problems”. He also tells how he enjoyed the training camps in Bormio and Madrid in the same way: “In the camps it was the same, maximum organisation and integration with my team-mates as well. Everything was perfect”.
