A much tougher Klasika Premundial to bring the season to a close

Klasika Premundial / Beasain Proba
Beasain – Beasain (118,8 km)

The end of the season and the immediate beginning of a new cycle for the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U19. The town of Beasain hosts one more year a new edition of its Klasika Premundial, an always demanding event that will once again have in the climb to Olaberria, located for the last time near the finish line, within its last seven kilometres: the orographic finishing touch to a complicated day rich and generous in climbs of entity.

The 2023 edition, in fact, increases both its mileage and, above all, its toughness, given the entries in the route of a double passage through Atagoiti in the first third of the route and another through the Gabiria pass after a first ascent to Olaberria and prior to another two new ascents to Olaberria that are sure to be decisive. An orographic menu with six mountain passes.

Sergio Calvo, Gerard Cano, Samuel Flórez, Pablo Leno, Iván Polo and Hugo Pradas will be taking part in this last race of the season. A sextet made up of four second-year riders and two first-year riders. “I go to Beasain with a lot of desire and with good expectations, because I come from some good weeks of load, training and races in which I have had good sensations and I hope to assimilate all that to put it in my benefit for the race”, comments Flórez.

The Colombian says: “My last races in Navarre and in the Basque Country have been very positive, they left me happy, but not satisfied. Wearing the colours of EOLO-KOMETA will always make you someone to watch in the peloton and that is something that makes it much more difficult for you to move in any race. It’s been a good learning experience and I hope to put it to good use this weekend in Beasain. After that I hope to continue competing in Colombia, as there are some important races in the national calendar that interest me. As always, I try to continue with the same desire as always, I am aware of where I come from, what it has cost me to get here; I am very grateful to those who have trusted me and have given me the opportunity. I just want to keep working with the same enthusiasm and with the same happiness that the bike gives me in pursuit of my dreams and goals”.
