Enric Mas escaló hasta la segunda plaza de la general final en la cuarta y última etapa de la Vuelta a Palencia, en la que el Specialized-Fundación Alberto Contador fue una vez mas el mejor equipo del pelotón. Concluyó así la última vuelta por etapas del calendario 2015 para los sub-23 de Rafa Díaz Justo, que en su segunda temporada en la categoría han demostrado una gran solidez y competitividad, convirtiéndose en una referencia dentro del panorama aficionado español.

Enric Mas logró en Palencia un nuevo segundo puesto tras el conseguido en la Vuelta al Bidasoa, y eso después de que el equipo luchará hasta el último kilómetro de carrera para adelantar dos plazas en la general final, que estuvo marcada por la escapada del primer día de Víctor Etxeberria, que le valió el triunfo. “Desde el primer día asumimos la responsabilidad de la carrera, muchas veces en solitario, luchando tanto por la general como por una victoria de etapa. Al final, Enric Mas ha sido segundo en la general y también hemos rozado el triunfo de etapa con Diego Noriega, que fue segundo en la tercera. Al Specialized-Fundación Alberto Contador sólo le ha faltado lograr la victoria en una vuelta por etapas, ya que ha sido segundo en seis (vueltas a Sevilla, Palencia, Bidasoa, Castellón, Coruña y Criterium de Verano) y tercero en una (Vuelta a Navarra). “Nos ha faltado rematar con algún triunfo más (cinco victorias individuales a lo largo del año), pero como equipo hemos asumido la responsabilidad en muchas ocasiones y el pelotón amateur ya cuenta con nosotros, porque nos hemos convertido en un equipo de referencia en la categoría”.

“Después de lo conseguido esta temporada”, concluye Rafa Díaz Justo, “nuestro objetivo para el próximo año debe ser destacar en el extranjero como lo hemos hecho en España. Tenemos un bloque muy sólido a pesar de nuestros corredores son muy jóvenes, pero eso es lo que nos asegura el futuro, contando también con los que vienen del equipo junior. Con humildad podemos hacer grandes cosas”.
