Yago Segovia fights persistently in the breakaway and Arnau Gilabert settles in the top10

Queen stage in Castellón, with the participation of Álvaro García after his fall in the previous stage. Asturian Yago Segovia was involved in an early breakaway, initially eleven riders, which was already leading the race after the first five kilometres, got involved again in a later movement of seven of those riders and persevered with another rider, Rubén González, in the long and irregular ascent to Culla to return to the discipline of the first group in the long downhill section afterwards.

With the hunt, a new race. And a very selected one. After a good job by the U23 of the Foundation at some stage setting the pace, just twenty riders began to climb Benifagos, penultimate difficulty of the day; a leading group where Andrea Montoli and Arnau Gilabert were also part of the Foundation. In the final part of the climb, the Belgian Bonneu made his move and began to climb alone up to Vistabella. From behind, however, the leader Igor Arrieta ended up arriving, who would ride solo to victory about two kilometres from the summit.

Behind, a string of riders, with a great performance by both Gilabert and Montoli, two first-year riders in the category. Gilabert resisted among the eleven riders chasing Arrieta and finished this third stage in 13th position, 34 seconds behind the winner. In the general classification, the Catalan rider is seventh, 43 seconds behind.

“I’m happy, after two very bad days I was finally able to go well”, says Yago Segovia. “It gives me a lot of morale for the days ahead”. The Vuelta a Castellón concludes this Sunday in the provincial capital after a spicy stage in the final part.
