What a struggle to go on the run. How good of Albanese.

Tough, tough, very tough. A stage raced hard from the first to the last meter, a stage made of climbs and continuous attacks to take away the breakaway: welcome to the Giro d’Italia. After yesterday’s solo ride with Diego Rosa on the roads of Calabria, the EOLO-KOMETA boys tried to get in on the day’s action today as well. Albanese, Rivi, Maestri, Fortunato: sprints, more sprints, fatigue. Then the breakaway started with no men in blue, and came to the finish: yet, something great happened for us, anyway.

It happened that Lorenzo Fortunato rode beautifully, in the group with the strongest, working for Albanese. Yeah, Alba: seventh at the final finish, great in the sprint that set the chasing group, and in such a tough stage this is important news. Which gives optimism for the future, perhaps starting tomorrow.

Lorenzo Fortunato: “I’m happy, I’m happy because the legs were spinning well and I stayed with the top group. I’m happy because I tried to go in the breakaway but they wouldn’t let me go, and that’s a good sign. In the end I stayed in front with Alba and tried to help him in the final sprint, where he did very well. For me, finally, very good feelings.”
