Veneto Classic: the last dance

On Sunday the Veneto Classic will be run: the last race of the season, the last time Vincenzo Albanese will ride in our jersey (and he is so, so eager to close with something beautiful), the last chance to try to win, the last race of Francesco Gavazzi’s career. Vincenzo Albanese and Gavazzi, as mentioned, and with them Diego Sevilla, Erik Fetter, Andrea Garosio, Davide Piganzoli and Davide De Cassan. A strong team, yes, that will face a race that is anything but easy.

Yes, because the route of this race is really difficult. Departure from the beautiful village of Mel to head to Bassano del Grappa where the race will begin to present the first difficulties with the Rosina circuit, 12.6 km to be repeated 4 times with its 2.1 km climb and an average gradient of 6.5 percent. Then it will be the turn of the La Tisa circuit with a 330-meter cobblestone sector at 15.2 percent: 12.4 km to be repeated 3 times (4 times the climb) before entering the final loop preceded by the deadly Diesel Farm wall: 1.3 km of gravel at 10.9 percent placed 10 km from the finish in Bassano. Last year Hirschi came alone: for those who want to succeed him in the roll of honor, it will not be easy.
