Trofeo Victor Cabedo, a demanding challenge for the junior team

16-17/03
XI Trofeo Julian Borràs and III Trofeo Ayuntamiento Castellnovo

After a successful weekend in the Basque Country, the junior cyclists will travel to Castellón for a second consecutive two races weekend. On Saturday and Sunday they will face the first two races of the prestigious Trofeo Victor Cabedo . The XI Trofeo Julian Borrás and the III Trofeo Ayuntamiento de Castellnovo will be the first two of the four events of the Trofeo Cabedo.

On Saturday, the race will be made up of five laps to a circuit for a total of 98 kilometres in the town of Càlig. The route, with constant ups and downs, will have 1180 metres of elevation gain with its five ascents to alto de Cerdos of 3rd category, three of them scoring for the king of mountain classification, as well as two intermediate prizes in two of the four passes through the finish line.

The second day will be very different. The race will start with two laps of a circuit around the town of Castellnovo and two intermediate sprint at each passes trough the finish line. Then, before completing the third lap, the bunch will move away from the town to climb the summits of La Nevera (8.1km-3.7%) and Almedíjar (4km-6%), completely turning around a comfortable start with a finish on uneven terrain all the way to the finish line.

Iker Díaz: “I’m feeling pretty good, every race I’m improving a little bit and I’m getting more and more comfortable. I’m looking forward to the race, I raced last year and I liked it a lot. It’s a race with a high level and it will be ideal to measure ourselves against our rivals. I’m also looking forward to riding in good weather, after a couple of rainy weekends”.

Isaac Cantón, team sports director: “for this weekend we come with a great block, with the aim of continuing in the same line of work; continue forming cyclists and this time with special hope to return to one of the best races of the junior calendar as it is the Trofeo Victor Cabedo”.

Line-up: Iker Díaz, Eleazar Jimenez, José Miguel Moreira, Oscar Orts, Hugo Pradas, Robinsón Rincón and Hector Teruel.
