Trofeo Guerrita, next stop for the under 23 team

TROFEO GUERRITA-MEMORIAL JUAN MORENO Y DIEGO SANCHEZ
ALCANTARILLA - ALCANTARILLA (173KM)

After starting Copa de España in Don Benito with the 5th place achieved by Gabriele Raccagni, the under-23 team will travel to Murcia, specifically to the town of Alcantarilla to compete in another Copa de España race. Trofeo Guerrita – Memorial Juan Moreno y Diego Sanchez will be the second of eleven races of the prestigious national competition.

Trofeo Guerrita, which repeats the route of last year’s edition, will be a real test for cyclists that in 2023 meant a podium in the under-23 category for the team. Along the way, the riders will face up to five mountain passes and three intermediate sprints. For the moment, Raccagni, who was 5th in Don Benito, is the best placed rider in the classification for the team.

Although the mountain passes of the race do not represent a great difficulty in terms of percentage of inclination, the accumulation of kilometres uphill could be decisive and leave the bunch very reduced. The course will climb El Cinto and La Perdiz on both sides and finally Belen (3.1km-2.7%) near the finish.

Rafael Diaz Justo, director of the under-23 team explains the objectives and the line-up of Trofeo Guerrita: “in this race we are making a small change in the line-up. Cyclists with a more climbing profile will take part and we will also line up Raccagni who is now our best rider in the general classification. From the last climb to the finish there is a lot of kilometres and that can be decisive in the race”.
