Tre Valli: there’s a diamond to be had

Tre Valli Varesine (1.PRO)
Tuesday, Oct. 3

We like to call it “the home race.” Because the Tre Valli Varesine, after all, is the home race: starting from Busto Arsizio, near the headquarters of our main sponsor Eolo, and arriving in Varese passing on the roads that saw our Ivan Basso grow up and pedal. And it is normal to feel it a little bit ours, and it is normal that there is even more desire to do something beautiful. And EOLO KOMETA will present itself at this Tre Valli with a strong team ready to make its mark on a race that will see, as always, many champions at the start (last year Pogacar won, this year he wants to do the encore). The two spikes will be Fortunato and Albanese, supported by Fetter coming off a great CRO Race, with Garosio, Mattia Bais, Piganzoli and Sevilla.

And it is precisely on Albanese that the spotlight will be on, after the resounding second place taken at the Coppa Bernocchi behind Van Aert. The placing at last Thursday’s Coppa Agostoni and the podium at the Bernocchi put him in an excellent position in the special ranking of the “Trittico Lombardo,” and it will be the Tre Valli that will decide who between him and Hirschi will take the diamond reserved for the winner. A goal that would go to embellish the season of Albanese and EOLO KOMETA, a goal that Vincenzo will chase on the course between the valleys of Varese.

And the course, as per tradition, will be selective and hard. It will be 196.5 kilometers that will first take the group from the start in Busto Arsizio to Varese where it will begin the circuit that will have to be repeated eight times with the Montello tear to weigh down muscles and legs. After 145 kilometers of racing, a longer circuit (25 km) will be tackled twice with the short climb leading to the finish in Via Sacco.

Stefano Zanatta: “We particularly care about this race, and as we have been doing for a few weeks now we will do everything to be protagonists: the route is certainly treacherous, and making it even tougher will be the presence of many champions who will want to win the race. Albanese is going stronger every day, and I believe he can have his say tomorrow as well: he is in the running to win the Trittico Lombardo diamond and we will certainly try, although Hirschi is a very difficult opponent.”
