Tommaso Bessega wins and pays tribute to Arturo Grávalos

Clásica La Rioja - Memorial Arturo Grávalos
Logroño - Logroño (133km)

The team arrived in Logroño on a roll after a very fruitful few weeks in terms of results. In a race that paid tribute to a cyclist who was in the structure, Tommaso Bessega was able to raise his arms and celebrate a very special victory.

The Clásica La Rioja – Memorial Arturo Grávalos was a race with a simple development. At the start, a breakaway was formed with a dozen riders of which Daniel Tenorio was part. Once captured, as it did not have a big advantage over the peloton, the race was very controlled. The attacks did not come to fruition and the team decided to take the lead.

Halfway through the race and with the team in command of the peloton, Tommaso Bessega managed to pass first through the flying finish in Villamediana. The big group, which arrived a little ahead of schedule, arrived in the capital of La Rioja united. T. Bessega was able to show off his top speed in a massive sprint in which he was able to raise his arms and pay tribute to Arturo.

Miguel Gómez, in charge of the team in Logroño, showed his satisfaction after a great race for the team: ‘The Memorial Valenciaga was a turning point and since then things have been going very well. We were doing things well, but the results didn’t reflect it. And today we won in a beautiful place for the team because of what it represents about a former team-mate of the structure. It was a race that motivated us and suited the profile of the riders we had and everything went well, so in that sense we are very happy’.
