Tommaso Bessega gets his second win of the season in the final stage in Salamanca

51ª Vuelta Ciclista a Salamanca
Stage 3: Doñinos de Salamanca – Salamanca (142,1 km)

The usual arrival of San Pablo street hosted again a mass sprint in which, as it happened a year ago, the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation was very close to achieve the partial victory in the last stage of the Vuelta a Salamanca. This Sunday it was Tommaso Bessega who came close to glory, finishing second in a ‘volata’ where the fastest was the Costa Rican rider of Lasal-Louriña Jason Huertas. The final overall, with eighth place for Antonio González from Soria, went for the second consecutive year to Mexican rider Edgar Cadena (Telco’m).

The third and final stage was a fast one, with an average speed of over 44.5 km/h, in which there was no shortage of skirmishes, the last one involving the Andalusian Fernando Rodríguez (Team Extremadura): with a lead of over two minutes on the terrain before the climb to Cabrerizos, he was finally caught with the race entering its last ten kilometres. And from there, until the finish, a lot of control of the teams with interests in the mass finish, among them an EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 that counted on the trump card of Bessega.
