Also today, we tried. Putting a man, our David Martin, in the escape that characterized the last stage of the race: a real escape, that risked to revolutionize the general classification and that in the end gave the victory of the day to Cerny of QuickStep.

And David? As said, he tried: good at getting into the right breakaway, good at holding on as long as he could. A lot of experience towards the future for our young rider.

“Today – he told us after the stage – I must say that it went quite well. I went in the breakaway almost from the beginning. In one of the passages on the GPM I was cut off and even if I tried to keep my pace, they were coming pretty fast behind me and at 1 km from the top of the climb I was reached by the group of the leaders. I tried to hang on, then I was able to stay with them and sprint to get to the front of the group”.
