Third place in the inaugural team time trial in Extremadura

The Vuelta a Extremadura got underway on Wednesday with an afternoon team time trial of just over eight kilometres in which the U23 team of the Contador Foundation set the third best time.

An opening with a great atmosphere of public, under a very pleasant temperature, in which Andrea Montoli climbed the podium to wear the jersey of the leader of the mountain.

The boys led by Rafa Díaz Justo, the penultimate team to start their participation, finished eight seconds behind Team Finisher, the winning team. In second place, Aluminios Cortizo.

“We had the reference of last year, where the team won, although the route was a little different. We wanted to do a good job and I think we did it. We rode very strongly from the very first moment, we have been emptying ourselves. Now it’s time to rest with a view to what’s to come, where we hope to continue to do well and be protagonists”, said Andrea Montoli.

The Vuelta a Extremadura continues this Thursday with a second stage that makes an incursion into the Sistema Central to face, less than 25 kilometres from the finish, the ascent to La Desesperá and its steep slopes.
