The Vuelta a Cantabria, first stop of a month full of stage tours in September

Vuelta Ciclista a Cantabria
From 2 to 4 September

The Cantabrian Álvaro García, the Castilian-Leonese Vicente Hernaiz, the Madrid rider Alejandro Luna, the Andalusian David Martín and the Asturian Edu Pérez-Landaluce and Yago Segovia form the sextet with which the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team u23 will take part between next Thursday 2 and Saturday 4 of September in a new edition of the always hard-fought Vuelta a Cantabria.

The Cantabrian round will be the first of a series of stage races in a special and intense September, more loaded than usual with stage races. A race where there is always room for attacks, with two days possibly more likely to see short sprints.

Perhaps the great novelty of this year’s edition will come on the final day, a mountainous stage in which the peloton will have to negotiate the chained climbs to the Alto del Caracol and the Puerto de la Braguía, a historic cycling summit already present in the first edition of the Vuelta a España in 1935, and ending in the caves of Monte Castillo after almost a kilometre and a half of ascent at an average gradient of over 6%.

The stages.
2nd September: Solia – Maliaño (148.8 km).

3rd September: Vioño – Vioño (135 km).

4th September: Puente Viesgo – Cuevas de Monte Castillo (148.5 km).
