The Polartec-Cometa Continental, the new professional team of Alberto Contador Foundation, trains from today until its debut in the Vuelta a Valencia in Mar de Pulpí, the tourist resort of Almería where its riders will spend a week of intense work, accompanied on this occasion by Alberto Contador, who today wanted to also premiere the colors of his team.
Nine of the team’s eleven riders (Michele Gazzoli, Matteo Moschetti, Patrick Gamper, Michel Ries, Kevin Inkelaar, Diego Pablo Sevilla, Juan Camacho, Isaac Canton and Miguel Angel Ballesteros) are present in Mar de Pulpí, while the arrival of the remaining two, Awet Habtom and Wilson Peña, are waited for the official presentation of the Alberto Contador Foundation, scheduled for next February 5 in Pinto (Madrid).
The team trained for the first time today with the official kit of this season, an event that Alberto Contador celebrated by dressing up also with his new colors. The winner of the Triple Crown said he is here, in this first training camp of 2018, “not in the best conditions due to the operation in my hand, but I want to follow the boys closely. We have a really young team and the goal is not to win many races, but to develop new riders for the future”.
Alberto went on to say that he believes that this will be “a very beautiful season and there will be no lack of enthusiasm and motivation on our part”. And, addressing to the fans, he said goodbye from his bike wishing that “follow us on television and on social networks”.
In this training camp, sponsored by TM Real Estate Group, the Poloartec-Kometa Team also has the presence of Ivan Basso, sports manager of the team, as well as Fran Contador, general manager, and sports directors Jesús Hernández, Dario Andriotto and Félix García Casas.
