Serrano, who was involved in some crashes in the middle of the race, had the support of the team to return to the main bunch and manage the situation. Facing the finish, on a climb with gradients of over 10%, he didn’t think twice and launched an attack from the very beginning to lead the race until the last hundred metres. Further back, 16th, finished Manuel Oioli.
“It can be said that luck has not exactly been on my side in this tour in Italy. Three crashes ended up weighing me down a bit, but the truth is that I had good legs and in the end I was able to be in the fight. My team-mates did a great race, they helped me a lot. In the end I had 70 metres to spare to take the win. The good feelings give us morale for everything that is to come”, said Serrano.
