Sergio Calvo joins the junior cyclist structure of the Contador Foundation

The Galician Sergio Calvo, second year U19 cyclist enrolled in the Club Ciclista Rias Baixas, will compete the rest of the season in the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, after the agreement reached between the clubs and the rider. “I always liked cycling. More to practice it than to see it, even. When I was 10 years old, my family encouraged me to compete. They help me a lot in this process. I started in O Barco, without putting in many hours. When I saw that I could do good things training, I joined the Emico-Erbi Bembibre and I started to stand out”, he recalled recently.

Calvo, who has just turned 18 (his birthday was on 11 April), was born in the town of O Barco de Valdeorras and lives in nearby A Rúa, where he is also studying. This season he has shown signs of great progression. Among other recent results, Calvo won the Prova Abertura GP Cidade de Fafe in Portugal and was in the fight for the Volta O Barbanza, in Galicia.

Sergio Calvo, on his arrival to the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team: “I wanted to have more competitions and the possibility of being able to race more in the national and international calendar. At the end EOLO-KOMETA is a team with a lot of fame and prestige and it is always nice to have an option like this. My dream is to be a professional cyclist and to one day be able to compete in the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia or the Vuelta a España”.
