Poitou-Charentes: “Such bad luck in the final…”

Tour Poitou Charentes (2.1)
Stage 1: Chauray – Périgny/Léa Nature (193,1km)

Frenchman Marc Sarreau is the winner of the first stage of the Tour Poitou-Charentes, characterized by a breakaway of five riders that never exceeded a 3-minute lead. A bit of bad luck, in the finale, for ours as DS Jesus Hernandez explains, “The team rode very well, unfortunately towards the end Martin crashed and Viegas was also forced to slow down to avoid ending up on the ground. Maestri did a wonderful job for Lonardi, but just when Lona was in a good position for the sprint he had contact with a Total Energie rider and had to brake. And if you brake in a sprint, it becomes impossible to win. We are happy, though, also because Fetter did not lose any time and remains our man for the classification.”
