Podiums for Balazs Pollner and Iván Polo in the Hungarian Nationals road race and in the Castilla y León Championship
The riders of the Fundación Contador junior squad Balasz Pollner and Iván Polo visited the podium this past weekend in the framework of their respective competitions. For Pollner, it was the road race of the cycling championships in his country. For the rider from Valladolid, it was the Gran Premio Pedro Luis García Velasco de Segovia in which the regional title of the category was at stake.
Polo finished fourth in the Segovian race, 36th Trofeo Ayuntamiento-GP Pedro Luis García Velasco, which was held over a 95-kilometre course and took place within the framework of the Fairs and Festivities of San Juan and San Pedro.
The rider from Valladolid finished fourth in the race organised by the Unión Ciclista Segoviana, 1’18” behind the winner Arkaiz Calleja (Recambios Zadorra) and six seconds behind the third and first rider from Castilla y León, Juan María Cuella from Salamanca. This allowed him to climb the podium as runner-up of Castilla y León.
In the Magyar town of Tamasi, on a 113.6 kilometre course with a slightly hilly and cobbled finish, the Hungarian road title for the junior category was at stake on Sunday. Marko Toth won the race, while Balazs Pollner, recent champion in the time trial discipline a few days earlier, finished second.
