O Gran Camiño closes the Spanish racing block in Galicia

O Gran Camiño (2.1)
23-26th february

A month after kicking off the season with the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana, it is time to say goodbye to Spain for the time being. The welcoming lands of Galicia and its way to Santiago de Compostela become the end of the road, of these first weeks of competition.

Precisely the city of Santiago de Compostela will close O Gran Camiño on Sunday with an 18-kilometre time trial. A race that will start this Thursday in Lugo in a complicated terrain of the first stage. Two summit finishes are expected to decide the overall: the tough but spectacular Santa Tecla on Friday in stage 2, a wonderful viewpoint on the border with Portugal; together with the fearsome stage 3 on Saturday with almost 4,000 metres of elevation gain, four passes and the final climb to the Alto do Castelo in Rubiá.

Excited with the results achieved in the Vuelta a Andalucía, where the presence in the breakaways and the fight for the stage wins occupied without a doubt the great attitude of EOLO KOMETA, they will look for their continuity in O Gran Camiño with a powerful block in which Lorenzo Fortunato will be again, with two opportunities for him and surrounded by an experienced line up with Francesco Gavazzi, Samuele Rivi or Mirco Maestri. The youth and ambition of Álex Martín and Mattia Bais will join the role of Giovanni Lonardi, always important to protect and guide the group.

Jesús Hernández: “We want to continue in the line of Andalucía, looking for the presence in the breakaways and to show our jersey in a prestigious race. On the other hand, I think we are in a position to fight for the general classification and also the two top finishes with Lorenzo Fortunato. We also have riders who, with their experience, are going to contribute a lot to the structure and I really believe that we are going to be a team to be taken into account in the race”.
