The Barcelona town of Sant Julià de Vilatorta hosted this Saturday morning the eighth qualifying event of the Catalan Cycling Cup for the U19 category, the sixth edition of its Cursa Ciclista, organised by the Club Ciclista Calma, in which the victory went to Nil Aguilera after attacking on the big climb of the day and riding alone for thirty kilometres.
The climbs to Romagats, Mansa, Collsesplanes, Revell and Gomara, some of them on a couple of occasions, marked out an interesting and tough course that provided a great fight for the victory. The race was grouped together until the second climb of the day, which saw a lot of movement and after which six riders remained in the lead, including Aguilera and Álex García.
With two kilometres to go to the top of Collesplanes, Aguilera, García and Miquel Morales (Bathco) stood out, but the two riders from EOLO-KOMETA junior continued with their offensive and finally Aguilera went solo to start his particular ride with about 30 kilometres to go. Finally, the rider from Igualada took the victory at the Carrer Indústria finish line with almost two minutes of margin over Morales, the first of the chasers. García, for his part, finished fourth.
Aguilera, Joel Díaz and Joan Cadena will take part this Sunday in the Catalan Cycling Championship of the category, which will be held in the Tarragona town of Montbriò del Camp over 114 kilometres in the framework of the Montbike Road Race.
