Manuel Sanroma and Gerard Cano, protagonists in Segorbe and Guijuelo
The double competitive front of the U19 structure, a block in the Trofeo Víctor Cabedo of Castellón, another in a double of commitments in the province of Salamanca, continued this Sunday and gave outstanding performances and two own names like Manuel Sanroma and Gerard Cano.
In the Trofeo Entrada de Toros y Caballos de Segorbe, the second race of the Trofeo Cabedo, Manuel Sanroma from La Mancha was one of the twelve riders who fought for a partial victory that went to Pablo Lospitao (Electromercantil).
The Madrid team did a great job in the hardest part of the race in order to keep under control a breakaway with dangerous riders present.
In the first edition of the Trofeo Ayuntamiento de Guijuelo, on the other hand, and under a very adverse weather with constant rain during the morning, Gerard Cano (15th at the finish, 18th finished Mario Gómez) was one of the cyclists who went on the attack in the hardest part of the race.
Cano moved with MMR riders Markel Beloki and Rafael Martínez, with whom he caught Marcos Freire (Bathco) and Sergio Romeo (MMR), who were ahead. Beloki would eventually win the race, with Sergio Calvo (Vigo-Rias Baixas) and Romeo completing the podium.
“Freire ended up giving up at the top. On the back ground the three of them were constantly pulling away from me, I tried to defend all the gaps, and they ended up going away at different times. I, with cramps, ended up being caught by seven other riders, of whom I stayed on a climb, and by another six on the final climb,” he explains.
