La Primavera de Ontur gives continuity to the Cup, returns in its dates and repeats at the end the Circuito de la Cañá

LXVIII Gran Premio Primavera
Ontur – Ontur (172,3 km)

In its succession, a variety of terrains and weather conditions. The Copa de España Elite and U23 2022 faces its fourth round and with it, a radical change of route. From the high finish at Aiztondo, to the open spaces and exposure to the winds of Ontur. The Gran Premio Primavera, one of the historic races of the national panorama, is back and it does it again in its festive dates of San José. The town of Albacete lives and enjoys its patron saint festivities.

Already absent in the recent Aiztondo Klasika by normative imperative, the Russian Lokosphinx will not be able to take part neither, therefore, his cyclist Gleb Syritsa, winner of the first two races, will be able to defend his leadership in the race that organizes the Club Ciclista Onturese. Ángel Coterillo travels to the province of Albacete as leader of the tournament, with Andrea Pietrobon in third position and Fernando Tercero, after a jump of sixteen positions, in sixth. Fran Muñoz, promotion from 22 places after his top ten in Aiztondo, is thirteenth.

Both Pietrobon and Muñoz will start in Ontur for the blue team. Marcel Camprubi, Ramón Fernández, Manuel Oioli, Javi Serrano and Pablo Uria complete a seven that returns to the same stage where less than a year ago (things of the reformulation of the calendar motivated by the COVID-19) the Sevillian David Martín scored an important victory, prelude of his later jump to the professional peloton of the hand of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team.

The route that is faced this Monday maintains that last circuit, the ‘Circuito de la Cañá’, which was the great novelty of the Gran Premio de Primavera. This last circuit, with five turns, has a small slope in the surroundings of the reservoir of Bayco or Ortigosa before facing the return to Ontur, whose finish line in the street of the Well has a slight uphill section. La Muela and La Galera, the two traditional climbs of the race, are maintained in the middle of the route. All in all, the Castilla-La Mancha race is a race where it is difficult for breakaways and adventures to win. It is, in short, a mecca for the sprint.

Fran Muñoz: “I’m really looking forward to our next cup race. Like all of them in the end, it will be tough. In this case because of the expected wind. But we are confident that the work we have done this preseason will continue to bear fruit. Already at the start of the season we have been able to see the potential and the quality of the squad. I hope that good results will continue to come”.

Andrea Pietrobon: “It’s the turn of a new test for me. This Spanish Cup is a constant discovery of both its races and its orography. I’m really enjoying this experience, especially thanks to the support of the whole team and my team-mates. Looking ahead to Ontur, the objective remains unchanged: to fight f”or the race, with our options, without looking beyond the general classification of the Cup. It is possible that we will be facing a race in which a large group will be the deciding factor and that always increases our chances of winning”.
