Javi Serrano and Fran Muñoz, called up by the RFEC for the Gent-Wevelgem that opens the U23 Nations Cup

Fran Muñoz from Barcelona, recent winner of the Gran Premio Primavera de Ontur, and Javier Serrano from Madrid have been called up by the Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC) to take part this coming Sunday 27 March in the Gent-Wevelgem, the first race of the U23 Nations Cup 2022.

The Belgian race, which will be held over a 177 kilometres route that includes several cobbled sections and walls such as the Scherpenberg, the Banenberg and, on two occasions, the chained Monteberg and a Kemmelberg whose summit is located within the last 25 kilometres.

The riders of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team U23 complete a selection composed by Xabier Isasa, Pelayo Sánchez, Abel Balderstone and Jokin Murguialday.

The U23 Nations Cup promoted by the International Cycling Union will consist of four races this year. The Belgian event is the only one-day event. In May (28-29 May) the Orlen Nations Grand Prix will be held in Poland, in June (2-5 June) the Race for Peace-Course de la Paix Grand Prix Jeseniky will be held in the Czech Republic and it closes in August, between the 18th and the 18th of this month, with a new edition of the French Tour de l’Avenir.
