ENVE to ride for two more years with Team Polti Kometa
ENVE wheels and components will continue to equip Polti Kometa’s AURUM Bikes until 2025. A sponsorship that is prolonged due to the satisfaction of the cyclists with the material and the great commitment of the company to be part of the project.
ENVE Composites and Polti Kometa will continue together until at least 2025, with a renewal of the agreement that deepens and consolidates even further, with the continued support of the brand based in Ogden, Utah. The company offers a range of high quality carbon products and has been a pioneer in the development of this material.
At the heart of ENVE’s success are its acclaimed, hand-crafted wheels, which are performing so well for Polti Kometa riders in the season’s big events, such as the Giro d’Italia, where the demands are high and the equipment must meet all racing situations. Here ENVE has proved to be the best ally for the major objectives of the Alberto Contador Foundation sports teams.
The wheels that will be used are their new SES model, with an ENVE hub, stragiht pull and straight spokes, mounted on tubeless. The 2.3 version will be used for days with high finishes, with a lot of gradient, which is the lightest version of the brand; the 3.4 for mountain days or strong side winds; and the 4.5, which is the most rolling version, will be the most used wheel by default. For the time trial bike, the team will use ENVE’s DISK lenticular rear wheel. Meanwhile, at the front, the 7.6 will be used, which is the highest profile version, always in tubeless.
It will be the first season of the Polti Kometa using tubeless tyres, an advance that aims at a faster rolling, a better comfort thanks to the fact that it allows to use lower pressures and the tyre has a better contact with the road. Power is transmitted better and resistance values are optimised for better performance in competition.
As for the stems, the team will use the STEM model. An aerodynamic stem with adjustable length and angle, which aims to optimise the cyclist’s position. As for the seatpost, the SEATPOST model is the one chosen for its lightness, reliability and fit, with its patented Twin-Bolt design to achieve the best performance in competition.
One issue that is forcing the use of the most advanced technology is tyre inflation, and given the increasing importance of the choice and precision of pressures, the Polti Kometa relies on the ENVE inflation station, which allows a very tight pressure choice without oscillations by cutting the inflation electronically, once the selected pressure has been reached.
In 2024, all the structures, from the pros to the youth team through to the U-23s, will use the Compact handlebar. Some riders will use the Aero model for its versatility in terms of angle, as it offers the possibility of inclination at -12 or -17 degrees.
Iván Moya, head of mechanics at Polti Kometa, values very positively to continue using the ENVE material for two more seasons: “It is great news to continue counting on the confidence of ENVE, we have achieved great results from their hand, enjoying material of enormous quality in the most demanding environments. For me, working with ENVE material is synonymous with reliability, we have been working with them for three seasons now and the results have been spectacular. In addition, we are talking about a premium brand, which equips the AURUM with a result in terms of image and performance on a par with the best bikes in the world”.
From ENVE, marketing director Neil Shirley says: “Continuing our sponsorship after so much success over the last three seasons is an exciting opportunity for us, especially as the team brings in a new title sponsor with a rich history in cycling. Having taken part in the Giro d’Italia’s big stage win at the top of Monte Zoncolan in 2021, and Campo Imperatore in 2023, progress is unstoppable, and we are determined to continue to grow in 2024.
