Davide Piganzoli proves it in San Vendemiano: 14th at the end, with Fernando Tercero also in the group

15º Trofeo Citta´di San Vendemiano – 62º GP Industria & Commercio
San Vendemiano – San Vendemiano (179,6 km)

Davide Piganzoli, Fernando Tercero and Andrea Montoli were the first exponents of the U23 team of the Contador Foundation in a disputed edition of the San Vendemiano Trophy that was selected on the mountainous circuit, the one that included the passes of the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio and Formeniga.

There Davide Piganzoli made his move, there he spurred the hunt for the hitherto escaped Fabretto and after that move a series of attacks emerged in which the eventual winner emerged: the Italian Federico Guzzo (Zalf).

It was on the hilly route that the race was fought in earnest, with a breakaway composed of Lorenzo Ferroni (Gallina Ecotek), Andreas Presti (Team Valcavas) and Giovanni Gazzola (Pedale Scaligero) on the initial flat route. The peloton let the riders do their best and rode for many kilometres at four and five minutes’ advantage.

At the finish Piganzoli finished 14th, with 21st place for Tercero and 34th place for Montoli, who arrived in a group 15″ behind the main bunch.

“The race was hard. The first part was calmer and more bearable. The team did a great job in that moment. With the entry into the circuit, the group selected a lot and we also wanted to try it out. In a dynamic of attacks and counterattacks we tried to be in all of them, but it’s very difficult. We leave happy anyway for having looked for our options”, tells Piganzoli.
