Campeonatos de España de Ciclismo 2021
Route U23 men
La Nucía – La Nucía (133,4 km)

The tenth place of David Martín from Seville and the fifteenth of Fernando Tercero from Castile-La Mancha were the two best classifications for the riders of the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation in a very tough edition of the Nationals, the law of the climb to Turrón Duro, in which only thirty riders finished.

The nine cyclists of the Foundation, enrolled in their respective regional teams, played a leading role in the development of a race in which finally won the gold for Iván Cobo (Cantabria), with Marcel Camprubí (Catalunya) and Unai Iribar (Euskadi) completing the podium.

From the start, David Martín was in the fight, forming part of a seven-rider breakaway that managed to ride at the head of the race for a good part of the race. In that breakaway, with four riders from the Catalan national team present, there was also Álex Martín.

In the decisive phase of the race, 25 riders arrived, including Álex and David Martín and Fernando Tercero. A very busy phase of the race, with many alternatives and selected for the last pass through the Turrón Duro. On the descent Álex Martín took off, and after his descent and the subsequent terrain, eight riders regrouped around him, with David Martín and Fernando Tercero present. But in the last three kilometres a regrouping would take place again, after which the breakaway riders would take the lead and the national title would be decided.
