Coppa Agostoni, a chance to shine

Coppa Agostoni (1.1)
Thursday, Sept. 28

Autumn has arrived, and that means one thing for cycling: the season is ending, but we are approaching the last event of the year with excitement. The Giro di Lombardia is getting closer, and those with it in their sights have a series of races in Italy that will serve to sharpen their condition and try to win something important anyway. The first appointment on the calendar arrives with the Coppa Agostoni, another one of those races that have made the history of the sport and that represents for us at EOLO KOMETA a great opportunity to try to make a good result.

The sports directors know it well, and in fact they have set up a team of the highest level that will present itself at the start of Lissone with a great desire to do well: around Vincenzo Albanese and Lorenzo Fortunato, there is Andrea Garosio, Francesco Gavazzi, the brothers Davide and Mattia Bais, and Davide Piganzoli.

The course, as per tradition, is indicated for a finish with a sprint with reduced ranks. After 20 km they will pass for the first time on the Sirtori climb (1700 meters at 4.8%) to enter a 45 km circuit that will see the group climb the Sirtori a second time. It will enter another 24-km circuit to be repeated four times with the climbs of Sirtori, Colle Brianza and Lissolo that will select the group. The last climb to Lissolo (2.5 km at 7.2%) will be tackled 38 km from the finish, all on the flat.

Stefano Zanatta: “This is a classic of Italian cycling, with the central circuit that will be able to make the difference and skim the group. Ours is a team structured to do well, both Albanese and Fortunato and Piganzoli have shown in the last races that they are very well so we will try to put them in a position to win. The goal is to win a race among the classics that await us between now and the end of the season.”
