Austria: Serrano third at the finish line and youth leader

Tour of Austria
2nd stage: St. Anton am Arlberg-Innsbruck (158.8 km)

A beautiful sprint, an important third place for a young man in his first year among the professionals, a brilliant result in a level race such as the Tour of Austria: this was today’s day for our Javi Serrano, who was very good in taking third place in the second day of the Austrian race (from St. Anton am Arlberg to Innsbruck of 158.8 km) won at the sprint by Jhonatan Narvaez (Ineos) ahead of Vermeersch (Alpecin-Deceuninck). Serrano now leads the youth classification and fourth in the overall standings 15″ behind leader Narvaez. A stage characterized by the heat, which saw a group of 7 riders on the attack without EOLO KOMETA men before rejoining with 20 km to go for the sprint finish.

Jesus Hernandez: “We are obviously very happy with the third place of Javi who also took first place in the youth classification , exactly as yesterday and as in the last races the team performed very well. Always focused, with the right attitude, always together until the last kilometers: the goal was to sprint with Serrano and we are very happy. Tomorrow we will try to do something good with our climbers.”

Javi Serrano: “A race with a lot of heat, not easy, but the team rode great and we were always in front. This was a stage I liked, I struggled a bit in a climb with five kilometers to go but I managed to stay with the group that was playing for the win. I am very happy to have achieved such a result in an important race like this and I hope in the coming days to continue to take advantage of this excellent condition.”
