22nd Grand Prix Miguel Indurain
Estella/Lizarra – Estella/Lizarra (203 km)
The race that every year celebrates Miguel Indurain, one of the greatest cyclists of all time, the idol of Ivan Basso, who when he was a kid followed his exploits and cheered for him, celebrated the triumph of the stainless Alejandro Valverde, who with a peremptory action in the final part of the race left everyone behind and arrived alone at the finish line of Estella.
The blue of the men of EOLO-KOMETA showed himself in the breakaway of the day, animated by six riders and including our Vincenzo Albanese. The action ended 65 km from the finish, but before returning to the belly of the group “Alba” was able to sprint to win the intermediate sprint classification.
Another positive news, the return of two athletes who had been stopped by an injury: Gavazzi (crashed at Laigueglia) and Wackermann were able to taste again the scent of racing and put an extra piece to find the condition.
The calendar for the EOLO-KOMETA team continues, with a group of riders in training in the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Tour of Turkey on the horizon.
Luca Wackermann: “I broke the ice. I’m still missing the rhythm but I’m happy to have debuted with the team and I’m confident for the Tour of Turkey and all the races that will follow”.
