Another day at the forefront

Tirreno Adriático (2.UWT)
Stage 5: Sefro – Fermo (155km)

Let ourself be seen. Be protagonists. Look forward for options from afar. With these premises, EOLO Kometa is completing a spectacular Tirreno Adriatico, with four breakaways already in their legs. Today on the way to Fermo, Francesco Gavazzi and Vincenzo Albanese moved with an income that exceeded 5 minutes and a group of more than 10 riders trying to make their way.

It is usual to talk about climbs, but today, with only three marked in the road book, the most transcendental moments were in the short but hard climbs that punctuated the entire route. Both Albanese and Gavazzi suffered on the first climb to the finish line. However, far from giving up, they struggled to get back to the front and, with 10 kilometres to go, they were in with a chance of victory.

The favourites from the peloton were on their heels. The hard ramps sowing doubts, many attacks from the leading group and on the last climb the winning move of Barguil (Arkea) to sentence the adventure of the day, without Alba or Gavazzi could not be in that fight. At the finish line, the best EOLO Kometa was satisfied with the result.

Stefano Zanatta: “We imagined, tried, wanted the breakaway today. We had thought to put Albanese and Maestri, but then Gavazzi was very good at getting into the good attack. Once again the team showed itself and raced very well, and I’m happy that the patron of Eolo, Luca Spada, was with us. The final part of the race was maybe a bit too hard for Alba, but he was very good at resisting and arriving with the first ones, together with Gavazzi and Fortunato, for a day like the ones we like. Well done, and tomorrow we’ll try to show up again.”
