Alex Martín gets into the breakaway of the Getxo Circuit
Circuito de Getxo (1.1)
Bilbao-Getxo (196’5 km)
Álex Martín was part of the 10 riders breakaway who rode all the first part of the Getxo Circuit in the lead. The traditional laps of the circuit that included the passage through the finish line allowed to open a more than 4 minutes gap, although the teams that wanted to fight for the victory did not leave any more gap.
It was the final part, with a change of route to discover one of the stages of the Tour de France that will start from Euskadi in 2023, when the race became serious and the movements in search of victory began. The climb to the Vivero broke the peloton, ended the breakaway and left Ravasi as the best blue rider at the finish line.
Alex Martin: “The goal for me was to get into the breakaway of the day and give presence to the team, I was able to get it as I entered in a breakaway of 10 riders in which we did not catch more than 4 minutes. We were caught at the end of the laps of the circuit, before the Vivero climb. Although I did this climb at my top, I was just out of first group and I got stuck in the middle. I really enjoyed this race, running at my best all day”.
