Albanese, the best EOLO Kometa in the hard finish at Port d’Andratx
The very hard finish, with more than 2 kilometres and ramps that reached 12%, did not allow the team to show off and they had to settle for arriving in the second large group.
Once again, leg-breaking terrain and a lot of hardness. The cyclists faced the penultimate round of the Challenge de Mallorca between Pollença and Port d’Andratx with ambition, although the result did not go their way. A large breakaway, with the presence of Samuele Rivi, gave colour to the day, although the attempt died on the descent of Puig Major and the first ramps of the climb to Deia.
It was time to look for position and fight to hold on in the select front group that was playing for the win. Once again, Vincenzo Albanese made good on his role as leader on the final wall, although he was unable to contest a finish in which Valverde (Movistar) raised his arms.
Vincenzo Albanese: “It was a demanding race, but I think we did well. We had Rivi in the breakaway and then the team was strong, in front and attentive. But the finish was very hard for me, I couldn’t compete. I’ll keep the good feeling and I’m sure that tomorrow, on the last day of the Challenge, we’ll be in the fight again”.
