A great ride by Gerard Bofill in the Cursa de la Vall Infinita
I Cursa de la Vall Infinita
Maçanet de Cabrenys-Maçanet de Cabrenys (90 km)
One of the best news left last weekend was the performance of Gerard Bofill from Girona in the penultimate round of the Catalan Youth Cup. The rider of the Kometa Cycling Team took part in the first edition of the Cursa de la Vall Infinita and set a great personal performance that certified with the final victory.
Bofill, in what is his second individual success of the season after the Championship of Catalonia en route, ended up leading the race for much of the day. Initially, in the company of Adriá Bartrina and from Alt de La Vajol on his own. A formidable ride that allowed him to reach the finish line with more than a minute over Pau Ibáñez (Antiga Casa Bellsola). At 2:16 Bernat Tarrés (Tot-Net) was third classified.
“Very close to the start there was a very steep climb, a very hard kilometre and a half, after which it was lowered and flattened. In the wall we were in front of five runners. On that descent the group was cut off and Bartrina and I ended up leaving. Together we would ride about fifteen kilometres, but on the climb my team-mate was already very tired and ended up falling down. I knew the race was very broken at the back, so I chose to pull forward,” explains Gerard.
“I’m really happy. I finished the season very well and I improved all my numbers”, added the cyclist from Banyoles.
