Victory for Miguel Domínguez in the Escalante Circuit, with Mario Gómez close to the podium
The Cantabrian locality of Escalante, in the context of his holidays in honor to the Virgen de la Cama and under the organization of the Sports Group Luyma, received this Wednesday a new edition of a Circuit of Escalante in which they were present, on the part of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team youth, the rider from Salamanca Miguel Domínguez and the Cantabrian Mario Gómez. Domínguez would score the victory, with fourth place for Gómez, in a race marked by the presence of the ascent to El Portillo in six occasions.
The Spaniard from Castilla-Leon, who also won the mountain classification, recounts the afternoon’s developments: “Already on the first lap of the circuit (about 12 kilometres) I was riding in a breakaway with five other riders. In El Portillo I tried to push as hard as possible every lap to catch as many riders as possible. With two laps to go, we were caught by a bigger group with Mario in it. On the penultimate pass through El Portillo, Mario and I pushed hard and went away together with Arturo Barros and Francisco Crespí, from Bathco. On the final lap, about five kilometres from the end, I broke away and managed to ride alone”.
