With improvements in the general classification both in Besaya and Gipuzkoa

Miguel Domínguez recovered two positions before the decisive stage in Besaya during the intense Saturday of the Cantabrian race, with a double sector. Balint Feldhoffer was in the fight for the stage in the Gipuzkoako Itzulia until the end and was fourth overall in the Basque race ahead of its third stage.

Vuelta al Besaya

This Saturday in Cantabria was an intense and long day, like every day in which the organisation of a cycling race proposes a double sector. To begin with, a very demanding team time trial. To follow, and finish, a stage with a hilly finish in the Cueva de El Castillo.

In the team time trial, the Belgian Acrog put in a formidable performance, riding at more than 52 km/h, and stopped the clock in 13’46”. EOLO-KOMETA finished with the fifth fastest time in the time trial, but 54″ behind. Aless de Bock took the lead and Miguel Domínguez recovered two positions in the general standings, placing eighth.

In the afternoon, in the online stage, with Sergio Calvo fighting the breakaway with Luis Alberto Lajarín (Valverde) and Daniel Tenorio (GSport) in the beautiful climb to La Braguía, in the end a large group arrived at the last climb to fight for the victory. Pablo Lospitao (Vino-Electromercantil) won, with Miguel Domínguez closing the group of 18 riders. Mario Gómez, 19th, remains as the first Cantabrian in the general classification.

Gipuzkoako Itzulia

The Spaniard Héctor Álvarez (Lucta) reinforced his leadership in the overall of the Basque race by winning this Saturday in the second stage, a day with start and finish in Mendaro that concentrated much of its hardness in the final part with the chained climbs to Kalbario and Arribinieta. A day with a lot of work for the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team riders.

Álvarez, very offensive, caught Eneko Ortega (Laboral Kutxa) in the last kilometre, who had delayed in the last ascent. The two of them gained twenty seconds on a small chasing group in which Balint Feldhoffer was riding. The Hungarian rider of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, fourth, moves up to fourth place in the provisional general classification.

This Sunday, another stage that promises strong emotions with four climbs to Zizurkil and another one, a few kilometres from the finish in Andoain, to Xoxoka.
