Medical statement about Vincenzo Albanese: “I will come back even stronger”
The Italian rider of EOLO KOMETA suffered a fall during the team’s training camp in Oliva, 10 days ago, which has disrupted all the competition planning and has required his stay in hospital. He has also undergone various medical tests to ensure that he is not seriously injured.
Vincenzo Albanese is scheduled to undergo an ultrasound scan on Thursday or Friday to decide on his real situation after almost 15 days of recovery, during which he has not been able to train and all the efforts have been aimed at minimising the impact of the injuries resulting from the fall. Only when it is guaranteed that the return to training is completely safe for the cyclist, he will get back on the bike and a new calendar will be established for Albanese.
Fabián Sanchís, doctor of EOLO KOMETA: “We are waiting for Albanese to have an ultrasound scan and check if everything is all right, probably at the end of this week. The objective is to check that there is no internal injury and that he can resume cycling. In that case, 15 days will have passed since the fall and he will be able to recover his training gradually. If we see that there are any additional problems, he will have to wait another 2 weeks, always trying to ensure that when he resumes his activity it will be with the maximum guarantees”.
Vincenzo Albanese: “Unfortunately, last week during a training session I had this bad crash, I have not written anything so far because I have not been well and I also spent two nights in the hospital. I am so sorry because I was in really good shape to face these first races and now I have to postpone everything. These things happen, I know, and I know I will come back even stronger than before”.
