Fourteenth final place for Juan Pedro López in the general classification of l´Isard
Ronde de l´Isard
Stage 4: Salies-du-Salat – Saint-Girons (152.4 km)
The Ronde de l´Isard concluded with the victory in the last stage for the Swiss Gino Mäder (IAM-Excelsior), who escaped, and the victory in the final general classification for the Britishman Stephen Williams (SEG Racing). The Spaniard Juan Pedro López, in his last race with the U-23 team, arrived in the leader’s group, finished 16th in the stage and finished 14th overall, 2:53 behind the winner.
A fourth stage marked by adverse weather conditions. A day of sunshine, water, storms and even fog depending on the orography of the moment that had an outcome full of excitement by a prick of the leader in the last descent and a moment of crisis that managed to overcome to save the day.
Rafa Díaz Justo, director: “I’m leaving with a good taste in my mouth, but I would have liked to have done it with a top-ten. The first day we missed a bit. But everything else has been positive, we have learned a lot. We come abroad and we come to compete. And we’re still an amateur team that runs with professionals. The race was crazy, from the start José got into a good breakaway, but it wasn’t really good because they didn’t let him go in the presence of a well-qualified rider; he was at the front and at the back. Our top climbers, Juanpe, Jorge Pastor and Sergio García are the ones who have gone the best”.
