Los equipos Rh+ Polartec se presentaron hoy en Madrid

La Fundación Alberto Contador presentó sus equipos RH+ / Polartec y anunció su ambición de llegar a profesionales en 2017

Alberto Contador asistió hoy en el Consejo Superior de Deportes a la presentación oficial de sus equipos RH+ / Polartec Junior y Sub 23, con los que la Fundación que lleva su nombre continúa por cuarta temporada su labor de apoyo al ciclismo de base.

Con la presencia del Consejero de Estado para el Deporte, Miguel Cardenal, y los presidentes de las Federaciones de Ciclismo Española y Madrileña, José Luis López Cerrón y Francisco Javier Fernández Alba, respectivamente, los equipos de la Fundación Alberto Contador presentaron las novedades de esta temporada, en la que cambian sus patrocinadores principales, RH+ y Polartec, el primero será proveedor de la ropa casual y de competición, de los cascos y las gafas del equipo, y el segundo es el fabricante de los tejidos especiales con los que se han elaborado las prendas del equipo.

Junto a ellos, destacó también el apoyo, por segunda temporada, de Citroën como proveedor de los vehículos de competición y transporte del equipo, además de organizador de una presentación en la que destacó como leitmotiv la intención de encontrar un patrocinador para culminar esta aventura en 2017 con la creación de un equipo profesional en el que el propio Alberto Contador estaría dispuesto a prolongar su carrera con idénticas ambiciones a las de este año: luchar por una nueva victoria en el Tour de Francia. “El objetivo es seguir creciendo y por ello el siguiente paso es sacar un equipo profesional. Estamos trabajando mucho, pero sabemos que es difícil, sobre todo porque queremos sacarlo al máximo nivel, para estar en el Tour de Francia”, dijo el líder del Tinkoff.

Entre los dos motivos que le harían continuar en activo después de 2016, Alberto dijo que está “el de no poder cuajar una temporada como quiero, luchando por la victoria en el Tour, y también el de poder contar con un equipo propio en el que seguir luchando al máximo nivel deportivo, cosa que cada vez está más cerca”. Pero mientras eso llega, Contador dijo estar totalmente centrado en esta temporada, que comenzará el miércoles en la Vuelta al Algarve. “Este es mi último año en el equipo Tinkoff y estoy concentrado en realizar una gran temporada. Es también el último año como patrocinador de Oleg Tinkov y todos en el equipo estamos trabajando a tope para ofrecerle las mejores victorias. Tengo grandes objetivos este año con el Tour y los Juegos Olímpicos y para eso estoy trabajando a tope”.

De cara a su debut en Portugal, Alberto Contador dice que llega a esta primera carrera del año “con confianza. He hecho un buen trabajo de base en el invierno y he podido hacerlo con tranquilidad. Debuto un poquito más tarde que otros años y quizás me faltará ritmo de competición en las primeras carreras respecto a otros rivales, pero pensando a largo plazo creo que será bueno”.

El secretario de Estado para El Deporte, Miguel Cardenal, cerró el acto destacando la importancia de poder acoger una presentación de un equipo de ciclismo en la sede del CSD y lo que eso significaba. Agradeció también a Alberto Contador su compromiso con el futuro del ciclismo y animó a apoyar al máximo este tipo de iniciativas para conseguir volver a los años de esplendor, en los que en España había más corredores, carreras y equipos que los que existen en la actualidad.

En 2016, la Fundación Alberto Contador contará con 26 corredores, 13 en el equipo RH+ /Polartec Junior y otros tantos en la formación Sub 23, donde se alinean sus dos únicos ciclistas extrajeros, el italiano Daniele Cantoni y el francés Marin Joublot, que son una muestra más de la vocación internacional de este proyecto. El debut en la competición se producirá, como cada año, en el Circuito del Guadiana, en Don Benito (Extremadura), los próximos días 20 y 21 de febrero.
