Yago Segovia, third in the opening time trial of the Volta a Galicia; Fernando Tercero and Álex Martín, in the top six
19º Volta a Galicia
Stage 1: Ponteareas – Ponteareas (6 km ITT)
Great start of Volta a Galicia for the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation, with an interesting performance at a global level that, in a more particular prism, included three of its riders in the top ten of the opening time trial of Ponteareas in which Marc Brustenga won with 7’36”.
Yago Segovia, third, was fifteen seconds behind Brustenga (7’51”), while Fernando Tercero, with the same time as Segovia (7’51”), finished fourth. Álex Martín was the sixth fastest of the day (7’57”).
A short, but very uncomfortable time trial, with several steep slopes along its six thousand metres, a stage with no room for speculation and the need to face it without any reserve of strength. Edu Pérez-Landace (8’02”) set the best provisional time. Andrea Montoli stopped the clock at 8’06”, as did Arnau Gilabert, and Javi Serrano at 8’09”.
This Friday, again with start and finish in Ponteareas, a 143-kilometre online stage in which the climbs, and the demanding Galician geography, will make an appearance.
