With Trofeo Laigueglia starts the Italian calendar
59° Trofeo Laigueglia
Laigueglia-Laigueglia (202 km)
Not a banal race, quite the contrary: because the Trofeo Laigueglia, banal, has never been. And to be convinced of this, it is enough to look at the palmares of the Ligurian race that traditionally inaugurates the Italian calendar.
That’s enough to be excited: because for a team like ours, with a soul a little bit Italian and a little bit Spanish, debuting in Italy is always a particular pleasure in view of the races that will come in the next days (from Strade Bianche to Tirreno-Adriatico…). Of course, it will be a real race because to win in Laigueglia is a temptation for everyone: last year the EOLO-KOMETA was unlucky with the bad fall that put Gavazzi out of the games, this year there is a great desire to win again after the beautiful success of Lonardi at the debut in Valencia.
Bais, Fancellu, Fortunato, Gavazzi, Rivi, Rosa and Sevilla will be the standard bearers of the team that will try to play in the challenging final circuit with the passages on Colla Micheri that as every year will make selection.
Stefano Zanatta, DS EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team: “With the first race in Italy starts an important period for our team and for our sponsors. After a first month in which we obtained good results we want to be present and continue to race as we have done so far. We have already achieved a victory, we count on starting the Italian season in the best way in view of the races to which we have been invited such as Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico and Milano-Sanremo. We’ll try to be competitive and make a good impression, as we did last year from the Giro d’Italia onwards”.
