Trofeo Laigueglia, the debut in Italy of Team Polti Kometa
The Italian team will make its first kilometres in its country wearing the jersey with the Polti and Kometa colours to compete this Wednesday in the Trofeo Laigueglia.
After a long tour of more than a month in Spain, competing also in Rwanda and Antalya and winning two races, finally comes the opportunity to compete in Italy to continue adding successes. The 202 kilometres of the Trofeo Laigueglia await Team Polti Kometa with a route divided into three sections: the first one with 99 kilometres that includes Cima Paravenna climb to form the breakaway, the second with 60 kilometres and Testico climb to wake up the favourites, and the four 11-kilometre turns with the climb to Colla Micheri to decide the race.
It will be this final part where we will see the big names deploy their tactics, their strengths and look for a victory that Team Polti Kometa will also fight for with a line-up that includes Matteo Fabbro, recent top-10 in O Gran Camiño, the brothers Davide and Mattia Bais, the young but increasingly solid Davide De Cassan and Fran Muñoz, as well as the climbers Álex Martín and Davide Piganzoli, winner of the queen stage and the general classification of the Tour of Antalya.
Sport director Stefano Zanatta gives us the keys to this Trofeo Laigueglia: “We are making our debut with our colours in Italy, it is something important for us and for our sponsors. We will take advantage of the good moment of the riders to try to maintain the good results in the intense month of March. I trust in Piganzoli, Fabbro and Davide Bais to fight in the final part, against the favourites, and the idea is to achieve a good result to start this tour on the right way”.
