Trofeo Cabedo objective
After a good first weekend, the junior team will take part in the last two, of the four races, that make up the Trofeo Cabedo: XIII Trofeo Castillo de Onda and XXXIV Trofeo Entrada de Toros y Caballos in Segorbe.
Both Saturday and Sunday the junior team will participate in the two remaining races to complete a trophy in which they were the best team of the classification in the first two days. After a first day with two riders in the breakaway that reached the finish line, the second day 4 riders of the team finished on the top10. Eleazar Jimenez is the best classified cyclist of the team in the overall Trophy in second position, while Jose Miguel Moreira is seventh and Oscar Orts eighth, who is also the second best regional and first year cyclist.
The team is aiming for everything this weekend. On Saturday, the race in Onda will be 80 kilometres long on a terrain full of steep slopes. The cyclists will ride two laps of a first circuit with two intermediate sprints and an special sprint. On the second pass through Onda and after the last intermediate sprint, they will move away from the town to climb the Collado de Ayódar (2nd cat). From the top of the hill there will be 13 kilometres to the finish line at Onda Castle. The finish will be uphill with 400m over 6%.
The second day will be totally different from the first three days of competition. Much of the hardness of the race will be concentrated between the start and the middle of the race. The cyclists will have to climb the Puerto del Matet (3rd cat) at kilometre 10, the Alto de Torás (3rd cat) at kilometre 40 and the Alto de Teresa (3rd cat) at kilometre 55. They will climb the gentler side of the first pass of the day back towards Segorbe and, with a favourable terrain, they will ride to the finish line completing 94.6 kilometres. The finish, as on the previous day, will be uphill with a 500 metre climb of over 5%.
Matteo Compagnoni: “I think it will be two challenging races, but the good conditions and the excellent team will make them very interesting”.
Hugo Pradas: “The feeling is very good because we won both days the teams classification and Eleazar is second overall. The idea is to run as much as possible as a team to achieve the individual and team victory. It would be a victory for riders and staff, so we are going for it as a team”.
Isaac Cantón sports director: “The impressions for this week are that we are going with all the work done after an intense first weekend in which the team did very well. We are going to fight for the victory and we will have to work as a team. We have a great squad and we must be very focused and, above all, continue to enjoy ourselves racing”.
