And on Sundays, with departure and arrival in the major square of the arandina village, the longest day and with a demanding area such as Montejo and Alto de Valdevacas on the itinerary. Both in the finish line and in the intermediate sprints there will be bonuses in play that will be fundamental for the resolution of the final victory.
“We have reached one of the rounds that every year aspires to be among the best on the national scene, surpassing itself from edition to edition both in the organization and in the search for new routes,” contextualizes director Guillermo Gutiérrez. “We will try to do a good job and get the final general classification, although the race is not going to be easy due to all the bonuses in play, bearing in mind that in the category the laps are usually decided by very few seconds. It’s going to be a very, very interesting Tour on a sporting level. We will have to be careful every kilometer of the race and never lose concentration. In principle, we should emerge stronger from the team time trial, but there will be teams looking for valuable seconds in it. The other stages, along with the ports and intermediate sprints, will be the key. We’ll have to be there for the leaks to qualify for those valuable seconds”.
Manuel Jesús Carrellán, one of the participants, explained before leaving for Burgos: “I’m in good shape for this lap, as I haven’t competed for a while and I was able to prepare well for the end of the season. I see the Vuelta with a demanding and quite beautiful route. Personally, I hope to be up to the task of the team and the event”.
Adrián González (Víctor Sastre Foundation), in 2016, and the Dutchman Timo De Jong (Acrog-Balen), in 2017, were the winners of the first two editions of this Vuelta a la Ribera del Duero that was born with a vocation for continuity and a desire for growth that is already shown this year with its growth in a fourth day of celebration.
