Third position in a team time trial held two hours late because of a fire
XXVII Vuelta a Talavera
Stage 3: Talavera de la Reina – Talavera de la Reina (7 km TTT)
Team time trials have always been a highly valued discipline within the Foundation’s youth team because of the way they condense teamwork and collaboration between colleagues. In the Vuelta a Talavera, held this Saturday, Guillermo Gutiérrez’s team achieved an outstanding third place.
On a flat course, with no orographic difficulty beyond the small slope of a bridge over the Tajo, the Balearic Francesc Bennassar, the Alicante Pedro Beneit, the Soriano Antonio González, the Cantabrian David Quevedo and the Madrid Alejandro Luna, Miguel Ángel Molina and Miguel Ramos completed the course in a time of 8:26, seven seconds better than that set by the Giménez Ganga.
That first position in the stage, however, would be fleeting. First the Monaco team, with a time of 8:23, and then the Bathco of the leader Juan Ayuso, with 8.17, would improve the time set by the youngsters of the Fundación Contador on a day marked by the anecdotal two-hour delay in the start of the race due to a small fire in the vicinity of the circuit.
